Graphing Personal Dignity

Each person could potentially think of their personal dignity as falling along a line of items which they would or would not do. For example, Demi Moore's character in Indecent Proposal would sleep with Robert Redford for a million dollars, but, one could assume, would not sleep with Robert Schneider for two dollars in change. So, her character's personal dignity would fall somewhere between those two admittedly distant points on the line.

I'll give you two related examples for myself that will let you determine where I fall on the line.

I took a leftover steak to work for lunch. I didn't want to be encumbered with things like "knives" and "plates". What? Carry them both to and from work? Isn't that what we have illegal immigrants for? In any case, I opted for neither, meaning that I ate the steak caveman style.

On the other hand, I recently reached into the bag holder at home to retrieve a lunch bag and came up with a Goodwill bag. I went digging for another.

So, my personal dignity falls somewhere between... will eat a steak caveman style in front of other people out of sheer laziness, but will not take lunch to work in a Goodwill bag.

Make of it what you will.

LOL. Humans are such arbitrary creatures, aren't we!
