I just met John Russo, co-writer with George Romero of Night of the Living Dead
. Our company is printing a coloring book about bullying that himself and a collaborating artist are working on. We were talking a little about the project, and he jokingly suggested that eventually in the series, they'd equate bullies with zombies.
I said (nay, was required to say by the laws of geekdom
): "Funny you should say that. When my daughter was getting bullied, I told her to make sure to shoot for the head."
Which, granted, that's not a tasteful thing to say in light of the whole school shooting paranoia many people live in, and for the record I told my daughter no such thing. However, when you're talking to the guy who wrote NotLD about bullying, you really don't have much of a choice not
to say something like that. He laughed. Maybe he was just humoring me. But he also wished me luck in my own writing "career" as it were, and that was certainly cool.
